ORUMA proposes to deliver a “Multicultural Connections for Wellbeing” during Mental Health Month in October 2026. The event will bring together families, youth, seniors and community members from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds across the Orana Region to celebrate culture, strengthen social connections and promote positive mental health.

The event will feature a range of inclusive activities including community games, cultural performances, sharing experiences sessions, wellbeing conversations, shared meals, children’s activities and opportunities for participants to connect with local support services. Informal discussion spaces will encourage participants to share experiences, build friendships and strengthen community networks.

The primary aims of the project are to:
• Reduce social isolation and strengthen community belonging.
• Increase awareness of mental health and wellbeing within CALD communities.
• Encourage conversations about mental health in a culturally safe and welcoming environment.
• Promote help-seeking and community support.
• Foster meaningful connections between individuals, families and the wider community.
