Each year at WayAhead, we support Perinatal Depression and Anxiety Awareness Week, which runs during the second week of November. There are a number of events which we support with small grants for community organisations to raise awareness of mental health during and after pregnancy. This year, we launched the week with a group of mums and bubs in Warragamba with Minister for Mental Health and the Minister for Women, Tanya Davies MP.
Minister Davies spoke about the importance of mental health care and support for parents during pregnancy and after the birth of their child. She even brought her young son along to play. Some of the other events included a series of events in Wollongong, morning teas and pampering for young mums groups, barbecues for dads and more.
