Right now the not-for-profit sector is in the throes of organising and holding their annual general meetings and conducting the election for board members. WayAhead is no exception. Our AGM is scheduled for Tuesday 15th November and we have 5 board positions up for election. We encourage all our members to seriously consider if you have the skills you can offer WayAhead and if you do, consider putting your name forward.
Whether or not you put your name forward for WayAhead or for another equally worthy organisation, serving on a board is not something that should be stepped into lightly. You really do need to know what’s going to be required of you before you sign up.
You should ask yourself –
Is this the right organisation for me?
Is this the right time?
How much of my time will be required?
What are the main issues the organisation is facing?
How is the board structured?
What contribution will I be able to make?
Whether or not you decide to put your name forward for election or simply to remain a member and supporter you need to feel confident that the WayAhead Board bases its decisions on the right principles and values, with an agreed purpose and that they appropriately direct, control and hold the organisation to account. If you want to know more come along to our AGM on 15th November. You will be very welcome.
