DESCRIPTION:Creative Connections is a youth-focused Mental Health Month workshop that uses creativity and connection as pathways to wellbeing. Designed as a 1.5 hour session delivered onsite for community at the Glebe Youth Centre (on the lands of the Gadigal Peoples of the Eora Nation)\, this event brings together young people aged 12 -18 years for collaborative artmaking\, reflective activity\, and facilitated conversations. \nCentered around the Mental Health Month theme\, “A Little Connection Goes a Long Way\,” the workshop celebrates youth voice and community spirit. A key feature of the session is the creation of a collective artwork titled “Threads of Connection\,” where participants reflect on the people\, places\, and experiences that help them thrive and capture those insights through a shared artmaking process.

Informal discussion spaces will encourage participants to share experiences\, build friendships and strengthen community networks. \nThe primary aims of the project are to:\n• Reduce social isolation and strengthen community belonging.\n• Increase awareness of mental health and wellbeing within CALD communities.\n• Encourage conversations about mental health in a culturally safe and welcoming environment.\n• Promote help-seeking and community support.\n• Foster meaningful connections between individuals\, families and the wider community.

DESCRIPTION:You must register if you wish to attend this group.  You can register by emailing supportgroups@wayahead.org.au or by phone 1300 794 992.\nWayahead’s Ashfield Anxiety Support Group is run by Hayley\, Julie and Sue at Club Ashfield on the 3rd Wednesday of the month from 6pm to 8pm. \nOur groups are usually comprised of a small number of people who come together to share personal experiences and information in a safe\, friendly and supportive environment. \nAll Wayahead support groups are free of charge. \nClub Ashfield\, 1-11 Charlotte St\, Ashfield. \nIMPORTANT – This is not a treatment group. It is a place where people who are impacted by anxiety can give and receive support related to living with and managing their anxiety. It is facilitated by trained volunteers who have a diverse range of experiences but who are not qualified health professionals. As such\, this group is not suitable for people with high levels of mental distress which may be associated with psychosis\, severe depression or active post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). We recommend that you do not attend this group if you are experiencing high levels of distress as it is unlikely that it will able to meet your needs. \nFor more information\, or to discuss whether this group is suitable for you\, please call 1300 794 992 or email supportgroups@wayahead.org.au.
